Nicole: approaches every lesson with enthusiasm and displays a genuine curiosity and thirst for knowledge that is truly inspiring. I am continually impressed by her readiness to contribute to class discussions, sharing her ideas with remarkable confidence. She has a natural ability to justify her opinions with detailed and valid explanations.
I must say, her enthusiasm for writing this week has been particularly impressive. Her writing consistently stands out as lively and entertaining. She carefully considers the vocabulary she chooses, understanding the effect it can have on the reader. Recently, her poetry has been nothing short of outstanding, especially her pieces modelled on “The Raven,” which we’ve been studying alongside “The Lost Words.” The pinnacle of her recent work was a superb independent piece titled “A Place for Plastic.” Drawing inspiration from our class discussions on plastic pollution, she crafted a compelling narrative from the perspective of a plastic bag embarking on a journey from the back of a dustbin lorry. The use of various literary devices kept me engaged as a reader, leaving me yearning for more. Well done, Nicole! Keep up the fantastic work!

Abigail: is positively brimming with knowledge and ideas, always willing to contribute during lessons. The best way to describe her is like a sponge—tirelessly driven to seek out and absorb new information. She has shown commendable confidence in asking questions whenever she's unsure or wants to delve deeper. This week in our science lessons, she truly shone when we discussed the properties of materials. She cleverly recalled knowledge from Year 2 and Year 4, making connections in her learning that impressed us all. During our whole class reading session she confidently summarised segments of the book we were reading together. She was able to extract key information that supported her chapter summary. Abigail; your drive and enthusiasm for learning are truly inspiring. Well done!
Joshua: quietly gets on with his work without making a fuss, and he probably thinks he isn’t noticed – but he absolutely is! This week, Joshua has truly impressed me with the effort he has been putting into his English lessons. Joshua is taking so much pride in crafting and publishing his work and has produced some wonderful pieces. He's becoming a natural wordsmith who thrives in the writing process, relishing the freedom to let his thoughts and ideas soar. He is a thinker and when presented with a question, he isn't impulsive or clumsy with his response, he bides his time and carefully considers his answer. He makes sure that he draws upon his previous learning and a super example of this was when he explained properties of materials in science. He could answer using his existing knowledge and confidently explain his thinking to the rest of the class. He is a young man that carries himself with respect, follows school rules, and serves as an excellent role model for his peers. He truly embodies the St Anne's values and does so with great pride. Well done, Joshua!

Lailah: is a considerate member of the class who always looks after those around her. If someone is feeling down, she will be there to lend a listening ear, and if her friends encounter difficulties with a task, she eagerly offers her help. Lailah’s creativity really shines through, particularly in art. I must commend her for the extra learning she does at home; just recently, she brought in a stunning sunset watercolour that has proudly taken centre stage on our classroom display. In English this week her diary entry was brimming with emotive language, setting the tone from the start with personal phrases that allowed readers to connect with her writing. Well done, Lailah! Keep up the fantastic work!

Joshua: has truly impressed me with the effort he has been putting into his English lessons. In our recent lessons, we’ve been diving into relative pronouns as part of our dictation work, and he has absolutely smashed it! Joshua breezes through the grammar questions, demonstrating not only understanding but also taking extra care to present his work beautifully. It’s wonderful to see. Joshua has a positive attitude. He consistently asks sensible questions to deepen his understanding and approaches every task with enthusiasm. He carries himself with respect, follows school rules, and serves as an excellent role model for his peers. He truly embodies the St Anne's values and does so with great pride. Well done, Joshua! Keep up the fantastic work!
James: has shown a new-found confidence that is simply inspiring, and his attitude towards learning has been excellent. PE remains one of his absolute favourite subjects, so it was no surprise to see him shine during our visit to Perlethorpe. When it came to the orienteering course, he truly excelled, displaying impressive geographical knowledge by identifying various capital cities around the world.
Not only that, but he stepped up while working with his group to construct wind turbines. We are loving, this new-found enthusiasm! I'm also delighted to note a marked improvement in his reading fluency when he reads aloud in class, and he is also putting significant effort into the presentation of his work, especially in English, and I am so proud of him for this dedication. Great job James. Keep up the good work!

On Monday, during our English lesson, he volunteered detailed responses regarding the significance of Armistice Day, demonstrating a deep understanding of the subject. Moving on to Tuesday, he was a star in Design Technology, standing out for all the right reasons with his contributions. Wednesday saw him offer insightful answers about Remembrance, and he even stepped up to play the C chord on his ukulele—what a talent! To top it off, yesterday, he willingly spent his lunchtime assisting with various jobs around the classroom. Liam really has been working hard to uphold our St Anne's Golden Rules. He is now motivated, eager to please, and shows true enthusiasm in all aspects of his learning. Continue striving to be the best you can be—we're all cheering you on! Well done Liam!

Kyla: has completely embraced the whole essence of our residential trip at Hathersage. Over the past three days, she has dived head-first into a range of new and exciting experiences, from wading through streams in her trusty wellington boots to fishing for all sorts of fascinating water creatures. It’s been a joy to witness her embodying this term’s Christian value of perseverance; she has faced every challenge with a cheerful smile and an adventurous spirit.
Kyla has not only taken everything in her stride, but she has also shown remarkable organisational skills and an eagerness to lend a helping hand to her peers. She truly stood out for her willingness to fully engage in each and every task presented. Whether she was mastering the art of being the chief dishwasher stacker or teaming up effectively during the orienteering challenge, Kyla's collaborative spirit shone brightly. It was particularly delightful to see her competitive streak in all its glory as she dashed from marker to marker with sheer enjoyment.
What’s more, Kyla’s impeccable manners, kindness, and positivity have not gone unnoticed; all the adults on the trip have commented on her exemplary behaviour. Ethan has shown a tremendous enthusiasm for learning, always keen to develop and grow. His attitude towards learning is nothing short of fantastic; he is continually eager to impress and does so time and again! In the classroom, he is beginning to take real pride in his work, and it’s wonderful to see the improvement in both the quantity and quality of his writing. Just this week, he’s been actively applying feedback and adult modelling, particularly with his handwriting, which is fantastic progress. Ethan is thoroughly enjoying our current English topic linked to Black History Month. His passion shines through when he talks about why segregation was so unfair in the late 1950s. Yesterday, he wrote a sensational formal persuasive letter from the perspective of a NASA engineer and demonstrated a keen understanding of how language choices impact the reader. A big well done, Ethan!

Hooria: Recently, she tackled the first block of learning with such determination, ordering and comparing numbers all the way up to a million, and she even managed the tricky business of rounding. Her confidence has truly soared, and she now works independently with remarkable success. It’s a joy to see how much she has grown! She is always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it’s assisting fellow pupils or even the grown-ups around the school. With her bright smile, she brings warmth and positivity to every situation. She eagerly volunteers for everything—from handing out books and collecting work to recording team points.
Last week at the MacMillan event, I had a proud teacher moment as she enthusiastically helped out on a stall, taking money and promoting it with such flair. Well done Hooria!

In this endeavour, he carefully crafted sentences that effectively hook the reader, compelling them to desire further exploration of the topic.
Jacob has exhibited a strong understanding of how to develop multi-clausal sentences and has seamlessly integrated various text features into his writing. Well done, Jacob! Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and I am excited to see your continued growth in the weeks to come.

Harriet B: We all know that perseverance is an incredibly important quality and Harriet has shown us all what it means to stick with it! Whenever she faces a challenging task, she never shies away; instead, she puts her heart into her work and always tries her best. She asks thoughtful questions to ensure that she really understands everything being taught. A great first impression for the year ahead.
In our maths lessons, I’ve noticed how she’s beginning to use her ‘toolkit’ more and more to help with problem-solving. Just the other day, she resolved a tricky question with confidence, and she reminded the rest of us how valuable it is to stay open to feedback.
English has become one of her favourite subjects, and during our discussions about the Curiosity book, she posed some brilliant enquiry questions that sparked lots of great conversations within our groups. Everyone could feel her passion, and it made our debate even more exciting! So let’s all remember to persevere like her and keep putting in the effort. Well done Harriet!
